In my Service Manual it says:

"After washing and drying the chain, oil it with a heavy-weight motor oil. CAUTION Do not use any oil sold commercially as 'drive chain oil'. Such oil can damage the 'O'-rings (or seals)"

So what oil do people use on the chain?

I never used to clear the chain. I think it will shorten it´s lifetime. I´m just using ceramic chain spray only...that´s all.
For about 30.000-40.000 km I can ride w/out maintenance.

I think the advice in the manual over-exaggerates, albeit that it only says that "Such oil can damage the 'O'-rings" (i.e. they don't have to). I don't know which oils they mean, but I'm pretty sure that this is quite unlikely and that all motorcycle grade chain lubes are perfectly safe.
