Wasser in banzintank , tankdeckel oder ??

Beitrag von pnardo70 »

Hello, is long time I dont post a question.
Sorry for my german is not enough to clear techincs !

I found water in tank in my XF Bj2000, first cause i think drain hole blocked (solved), but the tankdeckel gummy is not i.O. and the steel con the tank is little rusted.
Can I change only the rubber on the deckel or i have to change all?
Or other solutions?

Thansk to all

are you sure you have water in the tank? what are the symptoms?

in my opinion there are really only three possibilities for water in the tank:

- it was there since you got your freewind and you never noticed because you never run your bike on reserve
- it was in the fuel you got at the gas pump
- your tank cover is really the problem

so before you start replacing things make sure you find the causing problem...;) my tank cover for example is also rusty becuase my bike was a 'standuhr', which means it was standing arround for 12 years in a garage without petrol...

so back to your question: you can try to remove the o-ring and then get a fitting, petrol-resistant one and try to put it back on, if that doesnt work you probably have to replace th whole thing...

Hallo, danke für die Unterstützung.
I have drained gasoline from Tank and come out 100 ml of water! The water was also in carburetor found during draining of it.
The root cause is due to draining hole of tank cap closed and gummy prong not tightening. Anyone substitute the gummy? How he has done?

Try to remove the 2 screws on the bottom of the tank cap.
My bike was full of water too, inlet of the tank was rusted, so I cleaned the rust and painted it with powder paint - it is resistant aggainst gasoline.
Does somebody know the OEM number of the ruber gasket? In the spare parts catalogue there is no record about it :-(, only whole cap set.

Hi,

I think the main reason may be the closed draining hole and hose. The gasket looks not too bad.
