New XF....new problem!!! Carburator??

Beitrag von pnardo70 »

Hello dear friends,
I'm back, with a new XF...the old I've selled. :D
Is a XF650Y of 2000,that was stopped in garage for 3 years.
At first start, I cannot start, without deblocking the carburator filling level-stat.
With 2 new NGK10 with four contact.
The motor starts with long Stroke use, and POPPYiNG and BANGING at the exauhst system.
Running at 5000-6000 RPM there are two hole in power, and the feeling is always that there is to much gasoline in the motor or is missing some burns. In release of the gas, the exhuast explode like a FAST AND FOURIUS Byke!!
I putted in the tank some CLEANER for Carburator and valves with no particular effect. :(
Do you think tha depends on carburator? I'ts possible to put it in order without desassemblying?
Can I do some other check? Is there a particular connection for the spark plug (high RPM and low RPM)?
Vielen Danke fuer die Antowrten!
Ciao

Sorry, I don't get what you mean there. What do you have to do?

Yeah, OK, I've got that. But you wrote that you have to do something about the filling of the carburettor, what do you mean there?

the carburator has a little basin placed on the downside, my friend sblocked the leverage that allows the gasoline to come in this basin and adapt the level with the consumption of the needles (jet) maintining a fix quantity avaliable too the needles.

To me that sound as if the fuel level has to be calibrated. Do you have a shop manual? I think I remember that the procedure is explained there. (I could give you the manual if you need one, it's in English.)

After 3 years of standing i think you have to replace 100% of the gasoline. Did you tried that?

To AoS: I've the shopfloor manual, but I prefere to try oter solution before dismantling the carburator and wiash it.

You lost me there. What simpler solution?
There's a German saying: I looks like a dog, it smells like a dog. It is a dog.

If your friend meddled with the carburettor and the bike shows issues that are most probably carburettor related, what are you looking for? I know that taking the carbs apart will be a f*cking pain in the a**. So what? You might want to polish the headlights a bit because it seems much simpler, but it won't solve your problems.

Look for the problem where it is, not where you want it to be!

[Translation] (by AoS):
Your main jet(s) are partially blocked or the membranes are leaky.
If there is a loss of power at certain RPMs while accerlerating, there isn't too much fuel in the carburettor but too little!

If you would like to get around removing the carb from the bike you can remove the swimmer bodies with a screwdriver that mustn't be longer than 7 cm. You can do that while the carbs are installed. You can remove and check the membranes for fissures from the top of the carbs id you remove the tank.

Ok, status was: low speed needles blocked by dirty, carburator washed, after that gasoline falling in the piston for gravity. Regolation level official filling basin needles regolation and oring changed , red seal silicon on larger seal. Temporary solution but runs. Today i need a seal kit, for carburator....i will search on BT. Other new problem ...green lamp for neutral whenbike is warm doesnt light...cand i fix it?

Neutral sign: Might be just the bulb. You might be able to take it out after taking-off the windscreen. But you'll need bendy hands for that, maybe you want to remove the front fairing as a whole.

Ask any bike-dealer. They should have universal sealing material, so you can cut the needed seal.

I´ve done the same with the carburator of my lawnmower.
